School Backpack Program

Aug 29, 2024 | events, feature

As students prepare for their upcoming school year, back-to-school shopping becomes a focus for parents across Canada.

Markers, backpacks, pencils and binders are some of the most popular items. While it may not seem like a lot, the cost of these supplies can be challenging, especially for families with multiple children in school.

Thankfully, The Salvation Army in Prince George partners with Telus and the Indigenous Education Dept at School District 57 to offer some children in the community backpacks full of school supplies, helping ease the financial toll on low-income families.  The Salvation Army purchases grade specific supplies and the Indigenous Education Dept. supports and packing and distribution to those in need.

This year’s backpack program will include 400 backpacks that will be given out from August 27 to 30 to registered families.
